House Rental Advertising In Minnesota

If you have a house for rent in Minnesota, you may be wondering where to find your renter.  Obviously you'll need to advertise your house for rent and you have many options.  The key is to get the best impact while spending the least amount of money advertising your rental property.  I just completed my process of finding a renter and can share my experience which may help you advertise smarter.  I'll list where I advertised from best bang to worst.

CraigsList Minneapolis - Advertising a rental on CraigsList Minneapolis is the absolute best way to find a renter.  It's free and widely searched by tennants looking for a house to rent.  Craigslist lets you provide pictures and many other pieces of information to your renters.  This means that by the time a Craigslist renter calls you they know the most important facts about your rental property.

StarTribune Rental Classifieds - For $149 I paid for a 14 day advertisement in the StarTribune.  I received quite a few calls and showings based on this ad.  I'm not sure I really needed 14 days but for the money and number of calls and showings it was money well spent.  The downside is that callers don't have much information about your rental so you have to explain much more.  The Startribune rental classifieds also allows you to post pictures and other information.  I found however that most callers saw the ad in the local paper not the online site.  Saturdays are big days for advertising on the StarTribune so try and run ads on as many Saturdays and Sundays as possible.

RentClicks or Rentals.Com - For $99.00 per month I posted a beautiful advertisement on Rentals.Com.  The pictures and ad looked outstanding and they provide a sign and really great lead generation form.  The problem is that I only got one inquiry on my rental from Rentals.Com  Your milage may vary but i'm not sure if i'd spend this money the next time.

House Rental Advertising

HousingLink.Org - I didn't use this as I don't take Section 8, but if you do this website is where families receiving Section 8 look to find rentals that are Section 8 approved.  I don't know much about HousingLink.Org but it may be free for you to advertise your rental.
